You Got Knocked The F Out

One day I learned that the station hired someone who was considered to be a shock jock. It was a little odd since none of the other on air staff were controversial as most shock jocks try to be.  Odd as it may have been, it was not surprising since the program director was trying to do any and everything to keep his job.  This shock jock was nothing special.  He guy was kind of cool but I thought he was a bit of a fake person.

Six months had gone by and the station let some people go so we were all picking up the slack in other areas that we normally wouldn’t.  Namely board oping and promotions.  One day I was helping the promotions team put together some mailers the station was sending out to listeners.  We happened to be listening while we worked.

The shock jock insulted a woman on the air.  I do not recall exactly what had happened or what had led up to the incident but it was clear he attempted to humiliate the woman.  This jock was always doing this sort of thing so it really was not anything new.  About 30 minutes later the shock jock aired a call from the womans husband.  I assume she had called him to tell him what had happened and he called the shock jock to confront him.  It just so happened that the shock jock also aired the husband calling into the station.
He also tried to tell the man off and humiliate him on the air as well.  I guess the jock pissed off the wrong person that day because the man had gone to the radio station to look for the jock.  A few things about this story was funny because the man did not go to the station guns blazing.  He calmly asked the receptionist to page the jock and told her he was expected.  Once the jock went to the lobby to see who was visiting him the man started to beat on him.

This man was very large and the jock was a scrawny whimp with a microphone.  He gave the jock a really good beating and disappeared before the police arrived.  They later found him and arrested him.
