A jock at our station had her contract coming to an end. I remember her mentioning to me that she was worried because she was not approached for an extension. Just as she feared, a few weeks later she was let go because her contract was not renewed. I do not know the logistics of what her contract had in it, but she eventually landed a gig crosstown at the competitor. Of course, we listened. It did not take long but we noticed that we heard some familiar sounds. After listening a little more we also noticed that some of the callers sounded familiar as well.
To make a long story short, this woman had taken all the sound fx from the studio computer, took audio from callers calling into our station, edited them with her voice interacting with them, and was reairing them on the competing station. This was very uncool because we had to dump all our audio. We couldn’t even use the calls some of us had in the can because we did not know what she had taken or would use on the other station.
